Hayley Orrantia is she is an American performer, songwriter and actress. Most people know her by the title of Erica Goldberg, from the TV show, 'The Goldenbergs. Her definition of herself is an artist first and foremost. Since she was 9 years older, she started playing around with music. By the time she turned 12, music became significant enough that she was able to begin professional training. Following a few attempts at writing songs, she recorded her album of covers at the age of fourteen. From that moment on she's never been back. Orrantia is of Hispanic origins, but was born in USA. She is proud of the fact that she has Hispanic roots although she was raised using English exclusively and has never lived in Mexico. To keep her heritage alive, she is learning Spanish. Additionally, she creates songs that incorporate the language. "Hasta Verte," a track that she wrote in Spanish is a good example. Orrantia was selected to audition for The X Factor's first season during the summer of 2011. Orrantia won the first season of the X Factor following the submission of a YouTube audition video. She received four "yes" vote of the judge in the live stage show in Seattle. The first time she auditioned, she was solo however, during "Hollywood week" she was placed with three other female vocalists to form a trio during the remainder of the auditions. They were eliminated during the fifth week during the live show.
