Pickler was raised in a difficult family. When Pickler was just 2 her mother fled to avoid an abusive situation. In 1995, she was returned to Pickler's world and gained custody. However, it wasn't as it was originally planned. Pickler, then 12, was remanded to her parents through the court. They took care of her until she turned an adult. Pickler had to take care of her children without parents. Pickler admitted that she didn't have time to read and began learning how to make a living as a homemaker in her early years. Pickler was the cheerleader at middle and high school. In 2004, she graduated at North Stanly High School. Pickler is also a seasoned beauty queen.
